Association of Masonic Museums, Libraries and Archives

Praga Masonica is an independent research society with the aim to promote the cultural heritage of freemasonry in the historic Czech Lands (Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia), which form today the Czech Republic. Prague is a very old masonic center, but not much is known about it. There is also not a major masonic collection in the country. Masonic artefacts are spread over numerous institutions like the Grand Lodge, National Museum, UMPRUM (Arts and Craft) museum and a range of regional museums. The way to present this disbursed heritage is by an online presentation on the internet. Since 2012 the website PragaMasonica fulfills a role of an internet museum, presenting images of items kept on many different public and private places, both at home and abroad.

Description of the Masonic Collection

PragaMasonica presents pictures of masonic diplomas and certificates; of lodge glasses, of lodge jewels of members of the Grand Lodge of the Czech Republic, National Grand Lodge of Czechoslovakia, Grand Lodge Lessing in Czechoslovakia and also jewels of lodges in Slovakia. Moreover, a Prague city tour shows pictures of masonic signs on houses and building connected to freemasons. Finally, a collection of masonic seals can be viewed. In addition, there are several articles with illustrations like Mozart and the Prague Masons or Czechoslovakia- a masonic wonder? PragaMasonica is also on the X-platform (Twitter), with regular messages and pictures.

Size of the Collection

The web presentation consists of pictures, in total ca 420. More than half of them is of lodge jewels, the remaining are of glasses, seals, certificates and other.
